choosing your season
Just as nature changes its pace throughout the year, so do we at Quinta Rural. We thought it would be a good idea to show you what every season entails and which one will best suit your needs.
weather
Being up in the mountains, weather is usually quite moderate with lots and lots ánd lots of sun hours. But it can also change quite quickly, bringing you the charm of a rainy or foggy day midst of summer, or the joy of a bright, warm and sunny day midst of winter.
Night can be a bit chilly (ensuring a good night’s sleep even in summer) so when packing your flipflops and swimsuit, don’t forget to pack your pj’s and fleece as well.

To see & to do & the weather
In general Up in the mountains, we can always count a little breeze which makes it the ideal climate for outdoor activities such as walking, canyoning, horse back riding, swimming, donkey hiking, parapent etc.
Sun goes down quite late, but it may get a bit chilly so bring your fleece.
On rare really hot days, we advise all hikers to start small, early and well prepared. A good alternative is one of the many little natural swimming lakes, ponds, streams and waterfalls.
On rare colder days (perfect for the hikers & adventurers amonst you) you might always consider visiting a city in the valley (Porto, Braga, Guimaraes, Barcelos, Amarante, Vila Real etc.) or even go to the Douro wine valley.
