Win a 4 night mountain glamping stay in North Portugal.
All you have to do, is ´rename´ us. Quinta Rural Farm Camping & Mountain Glamping needs a new, appealing, international name. And somehow, we ourselves still haven´t found what we are looking for. So we figured, why not ask for help? Probably the best name comes from ´outside´, someone who views our place as a potential (or maybe even past) guest. If your name gets chosen, you will be offered a free stay at one of our lodgings. * But…before you accept the challenge, we will first tell you a bit about the how and why.
Even though the farm was built in 1673, Quinta Rural only came to life in 2012. We started out with a few camping pitches, 3 furnished tents with wobbly furniture on platforms, and 2 on the ground (sometimes having to ´level´ the bed with some pieces of wood under it). Almost all of our guests were Dutch or Flemish Belgians. Why? Well, being Dutch ourselves, it´s easier to write appealing texts in Dutch, easier to ´hit the right tone´. Furthermore, a lot of Dutch/Belgian families book their summer holidays quite a while in advance. We already get reservations for next summer in August of the current summer. By the time other nationalities started thinking about their holidays, we were already fully booked. In the meantime, we have worked hard on our little piece of paradise. Thanks to the new mountain log cabins and the straw bale lodge, we now have year round quality lodging. Allowing us to not only concentrate on the summer, and thus on the Dutch, but to broaden our horizon, enter new ´markets´.
This also enables us to finally realize many little dream projects that have been playing in our minds for quite some years. Not only are we now able to enter the Portuguese and foreign markets (English, French, Spanish, German, American etc. ) , we also have the facilities to offer various workshops (about natural building, permaculture, nature, personal development), inn-house trainings and coaching (on starting a new life abroad, about rural and sustainable tourism) and organised group holidays (hiking, walking, nature retreats, outdoor, rural meet and greets).
That sounds great. Why would you need a new name?
Well… Quinta Rural actually only means ´rural farm´. A vary broad generic name that I chose when I started making the website, putting into words the idea behind it all, see if it would be appealing to future guests. It was! I started getting reservations before I had even found a location! In Dutch, the name works. The R in rural somehow evokes an association with ´roughness´. Like the roughness of the mountains and mountain life itself. The roughness at our ´unpolished´ paradise. If anyone looks up Quinta Rural in the Dutch google, they will land at our page for sure.
However… being such a broad, generic name in Portuguese, the results when googling in Portuguese or English will be completely different. Lists and lists of property for sale, is what you will get. Or worse, other tourist accommodations that use ´quinta rural´ as a description. You will not even find us! Imagine that! Even if someone now our place´s name (maybe because a friend told them what a great place this is), and searches for us, they will not end up on our site.
I am up for the challenge! How do I proceed?
First of all, make sure you really understand what Quinta Rural is about, what we offer. What makes us different from the other accommodations. Do some research on our page. Look at the pictures. And then go creative. We have fooled and played around a bit with words like wonderfully wild, wolves, lodge, glamping, serra da cabreira, serra, nature, farm camping, rough, mountain glamping, natura, mountains, cabin life, rural love, down to earth, slow life, portugal, eco, view, sky, mossy earth, back to earth, roughpatch, heaven, rural, land, explore, outdoor, authentic, genuine, above the clouds, donkeys, escape, escapadinha, Cabeceiras de Basto, Norte, Braga, Terra de Basto, Basto, Cabreira, etc. etc.
Bare in mind that
- it fits our guests, both existing Dutch as future other nationalities (nature lovers, couples, families, friends, hikers, in search of a genuine encounter with authentic Portugal, its people, culture, nature, traditions etc. Back to earth people. )
- it should be an international name
- it should appeal to the Portuguese market as well
- easy to remember
- it has to be unique and without registered website
- it would be great if the name has one of our unique selling points in it, or a referral/association to it
- quirckiness works. Strange, funny names, word games etc. stick a lot easier
Send your suggested names (with a maximum of 5) in a mail, including your personal details so we can get in touch if your name gets picked and you have won a 2 persons 4 night stay (off season) at Quinta Rural. Please give the mail this title: Name Contest & your complete name. Suggestions can be send till March 31st (unless the perfect name pops up earlier on. )
* win a 4 night holiday for 1-2 persons = either 4 nights in the eco lodge ´the straw bale hut´ , 5 nights in furnished back to basic glamping tent, 7 nights of camping or 3 nights in the mountain log cabins. Not during school and bank holidays.
Next challenge: designing THE logo
Once we have found our winner, we can proceed with the next step. Adapt the existing logo. Maybe change it entirely. Who knows. If you´re a logo and house style photoshop and/ or hand drawn (that would really fit our style!) wizz, make sure to follow us on facebook to know when the logo designing contest opens.
